Delete Monitor

Permanently remove a monitor and stop its checks

Overview

Delete a monitor. Checks stop immediately, the monitor disappears from lists and no longer counts toward your plan’s monitor limit, and any incident that is still open for it is closed automatically.

DELETE https://api.uptimeio.com/api/monitors/{id}

Deleting a monitor cannot be undone through the API. If you only need checks to stop for a while, use Pause Monitor instead.

Authentication

Header	Required	Description
X-API-Key	Yes (or a Bearer token)	Your API key with read and write access. Read-only keys receive READ_ONLY_API_KEY (403). See Authentication.
X-Project-ID	No	Project that contains the monitor. Defaults to your organization’s default project.

Your role must be allowed to delete monitors, otherwise INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS (403).

Response

204 No Content

The monitor was deleted. The response has no body.

Errors

Status	Code	Cause
401	AUTHENTICATION_REQUIRED / MISSING_AUTH / INVALID_API_KEY	Missing or invalid credentials.
403	READ_ONLY_API_KEY	The key has read-only access.
403	INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS	Your role cannot delete monitors.
404	MONITOR_NOT_FOUND	No monitor with this ID in the project, or it was already deleted.
500	MONITOR_DELETION_FAILED	The monitor could not be deleted.
