Update Incident

Change an incident’s severity, error message, regions or description

Overview

Updates descriptive fields on an incident. To change its status use Update Status. Changes are recorded in the incident’s history (see Get Incident Updates); a change that sets a field to its current value is not recorded.

PUT /api/incidents/{id}

Authentication

X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY (read_write scope) or Authorization: Bearer YOUR_JWT. Requires the can_manage_incidents permission.

Request body

Send at least one field.

Field	Type	Description
severity	string	critical, major, minor or warning.
error_message	string	1-1000 characters.
affected_regions	string[]	Replaces the current list.
description	string or null	Up to 2000 characters. null clears it.

Response

200 OK with the updated incident object.

Errors

Status	Code	Cause
400	VALIDATION_ERROR	A field is invalid or id is not a UUID.
401	MISSING_AUTH, INVALID_API_KEY, INVALID_TOKEN	Missing or invalid credentials.
403	READ_ONLY_API_KEY, INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS	Key is read-only, or the user cannot manage incidents.
404	RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND	No such incident in your project.
500	INTERNAL_ERROR	Also returned today when the body contains none of the four fields (At least one field must be provided for update).
